SOMMER synoris 550 garage door opener Replacement

Our Standard Model. Revolutionary. Reliable.

Unlike conventional garage door opener replacement that use a noisy chain, belt or screw the synoris has only one moving part with no moving chain or belt. The motor glides silently along the chain which is embedded in a sturdy steel rail. It is an extremely quiet garage door opener replacement with virtually no vibrations. Perfect for homes with living spaces above or next to the garage.

Featuring very smooth operation with soft start and stop technology, the motor is located at the door instead of the back of the opener, maximizing power where you need it most. This is why the synoris is the way to power your garage door.

Also the only garage door opener replacement with a LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE ENTIRE OPENER, not just the belt and the motor.

Love it! Just one shortfall! December 2, 2014
Reviewer: Wendy from Cape Cod MA
I have a 550 on 1 door and a Liftmaster on the other.  The 550 is so quiet that I have been secretly waiting for my Liftmaster to die so I could replace it.  Only one shortfall.  I really want a digital keypad that I can place outside the door so that I can open the garage door without having to carry a remote in my pocket or walk around to another door.  They don't appear to make one.  So I see no option other than to replace the Liftmaster with a model compatible with a keypad transmitter.

Just finished installation. September 22, 2014

First time I've ever tried installing a garage door opener, replacement for a 20-year old Lift-Master.  Installation took a little longer then anticipated, due to inexperience and wanting to do a good job.  Had to play around with the closing force to get a good seal around the door frame, it's very easy to reset the unit and experiment with different settings.  Felt the need to build metal frames around the photo eyes to  protect the units from being damaged.  This is the only improvement to the product I would recommend.

Best opener available August 1, 2014
Reviewer: Don from Prescott Valley, AZ
I've had my first opener from Sommer for almost a year. When the opener on my other door started having issues I invested in another Sommer. VERY quiet, very durable, and virtually maintenance free. Easy to install with very clear instructions written in English. There are also videos available on YouTube from Sommer and garage door specialists. One of the issues I have read repeatedly about the Sommer is that it closes very slowly. I timed it with my Liftmaster opener and it took exactly 4 seconds longer! If 4 seconds is an issue for you, then I guess this rules out this opener. I'm not too sure what one of the other reviewers was talking about when he stated that the door would not stop anywhere in it's travel...that is NOT the case. When opening the door, it can be stopped to stay at any given position by pushing the transmitter button. Pushing the button again sends the door back to the closed position. Very simple. Programs easily with the Homelink system in both of my vehicles.

Best opener I have ever owned! December 14, 2013
Reviewer: Michael Williams from Howell, MI United States
I have had my opener now for about three years.  I have since installed 3 more for customers of mine.
It is quiet...very quiet.
It's slow opening, but its supposed to be!
The only thing I don't like is that you change Mhz on the unit.  I have some people with 310 and some with 315. That does get confusing.
I would highly recommend the unit!
